Follow These Tips to Get the Best Outcome For Your Finished Quilt:
- To prevent my having to sew in tucks to make up for excess fabric in the borders, make sure your quilt top is square and lays flat to avoid puckering when quilted.
- Secure your edge seams by sewing a "stay-stitch" about 1/8" from the outside edges after you have squared your quilt to guarantee your stay stich will be caught in the binding.
- Double check all your seams for “holes” e.g. seams not securely sewn together in your quilt top, as well as any wavy borders.
- Press the quilt top so the seams lay flat.
- To prevent darker threads showing through lighter backgrounds, especially if your quilt top background is white, remove excess threads on the quilt top.
- Pin your name and phone number to your quilt top and backing.
- If the top edge of the quilt top is not easily defined, mark that top edge so I know your preference for direction.
